A little about me:Inserted Image

My name is Fonda Jones and I started my educational  journey as a Checotah High School graduate and then went on to Oklahoma State University. GO POKES!!! I earned my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education in 1996. Just before I graduated I married the love of my life and high school sweetheart, TJ Jones.  He went to OSU as well and we stayed 4 more years for him to attend and graduate from the OSU Veterinary Medicine School.

While TJ was still in school, I taught at the OSU Child Development Laboratory for a year and a half in the Pre-School. Then I moved to Oilton Elementary were I taught Kindergarten. After Vet school we moved to Cincinnati,Ohio where TJ practiced for a year and I taught Kindergarten in the big city. (WOW, what an experience!)

Inserted Image2001 was a big year for us....we became parents to a beautiful daughter, Steely.  She is now 13 and a student at Cooper Middle School as well the center of our world.

We moved back to Oklahoma when Steely was just a few months old and I was loving being a stay at home mom. We lived around the Checotah area, where my parents still reside. The opportunity arose for me to get back into teaching in 2002 when a fellow teacher in Oilton told me about a teaching job opening up in Drumright. I interviewed on a Wednesday, the district hired me on a Friday and school started on the following Monday. We found a place to live on Saturday, moved on Sunday....whew!

Inserted ImageI have taught Kindergarten for 6 years and 1st grade for 6 years. This year I have moved back to 1st grade from teaching Kindergarten last year.  I am excited to have some of my same kiddos and I am really looking forward to just picking up where we left off last spring.  I enjoy young kids, they are full of energy and have lots of enthusiasm for learning.  I believe that every child has the same opportunity to learn and I have very high expectations for my students. I recently found a poster that I really like, it says....

"In this room we don't DO EASY, we make easy HAPPEN through HARD WORK and LEARNING."

We do work hard! And I hope that by working hard my students will learn a ton and they will make "easy" happen in their educational journey.

We are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Cushing. On Wednesdays I change gears a bit and teach Jr. High and High School kids as the youth group director. I love my church kids just as much as my school kids.

We are very happy with our decision to move to Drumright. This community is a very supportive and loving place. We have a great school and I am proud to be here. I am happy and excited to be raising my daughter in Drumright.

If you have any questions or concerns I would love to talk to you. Just give me a call at school during my planning time or call and leave a message and I will gladly get back with you.
