Cooper Middle School & Drumright High School

Back to School!

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year at Drumright Public Schools!  We are very excited as we head into a new school year in the Middle/High School.  I am proud to serve

as your students' new MS/HS Principal.  Drumright is a community that I’ve always loved and admired.  My opportunity to help your student(s) to have a positive learning experience will be my highest priority.  I truly believe that ALL students have talents and our job will be to help them achieve success.  The teachers and staff at Cooper Middle School and Drumright High School will give their complete commitment to our students.  I look forward to a “GREAT YEAR!”

Our first day of school is Monday, August 15.

School will start at 8:25 and we will begin releasing students at 3:25.  Breakfast will be served from 8:00 until 8:20 in the cafeteria.  Please make sure students are not dropped off at the school before 8:00 unless arrangements have been made in the office.  We do not have adequate supervision until all staff arrive at 8:00.  This is to ensure the safety of our students.

Breakfast and lunch money should be given to Lori in the MS/HS office to be added to your student’s account.  Cafeteria prices for 2022-2023 are; $1.50 for breakfast, $2.50 for lunch, and $.50 for milk only.  Attached to your student’s enrollment packet is a Free/Reduced Lunch form please fill this out and return it to school with your child as soon as possible.  Our goal this year is to receive 100% of our lunch forms back, even if you do not qualify, please return the form to the office..  Remember, you only have to do one form per family.  We want to keep your child’s account with a positive balance.  If your student has a negative balance of $20 they will be given an alternate lunch until the account is brought back to a positive balance.

I am excited to announce that we have a few new hires in the MS/HS.  First, Graham Gooch will be a new teacher/coach in our district.  He will be teaching MS/HS Science and Geography.  He will also be coaching football and strength and conditioning.  Second, Seth Loyd will be assigned English I and II along with Life Skills.  He will be coaching football and baseball. And third, Austin Riley will be teaching English III, IV, and U.S. History.  He will be coaching fastpitch softball and baseball.  When you have the opportunity please introduce yourself to our new teachers/coaches.  They are truly a great asset to Drumright Public Schools.

The buildings/facilities/grounds have been undergoing a thorough summer cleaning and updating.  The MS/HS has had carpets cleaned and tile has been added to the office and a few classrooms.  The athletic facilities have been upgraded with sod, locker rooms, and gravel. Multiple other projects are being completed as well.  Many people have worked hard and diligently to prepare for the upcoming school year.  They love the district and have volunteered many hours this summer for our students.  I personally say, THANK YOU!

I truly appreciate this opportunity to serve this community and school district.  I look forward to meeting people in the community and working together with all stakeholders in the development and success of our students.  Please feel free to contact me anytime.  I look forward to a bright future and a successful school year!

Sincerely,

Gary Riley
